From 21.02. until 14.03. our representatives participated in the Erasmus+ training for people working with young people, organized by our partner Asociatia ARYAS from Romania.

In order to effectively respond to contemporary challenges caused by the current epidemiological situation, all project activities were held in digital form. 5 representatives of the Association Pozitiva Samobor were actively involved in interactive workshops based on informal education methods, the goal of which was the development of personal and professional skills in the field of mental health.

About the project

The number of young people suffering from episodes of depression, anxiety and suicide attempts is increasing, and the cases are becoming more alarming in most countries. Unfortunately, the support provided in this regard is very low. Formal education does not cover this area of ​​skill development that could help young people know and manage their feelings. In addition, most parents treat young people's anxiety and depression as "adolescent phases" and do not provide the emotional support needed to overcome these emotional states. Youth organizations, through the informal framework they provide to young people, could be a good support in solving mental health problems, but the lack of training in the field leads to the growing feeling that only certified people in the field can approach this topic, which is wrong, from a simple the reason why the focus should be on prevention and not on healing young people in such a crisis situation (depression, anxiety, suicide attempts).

Therefore, with this project, people who work with young people are equipped with a set of accessible and effective methods that will support young people in the development of emotional intelligence and prevention of mental problems, and contribute to the education of citizens in the field of mental health.
