My volunteer experience in Croatia

My name is Vuk Vučeraković, I'm a biologist from Podgorica, and I got the opportunity of the European Solidarity Forces program at the Pozitiva Samobor project for 3 months.

I know that at the end of this adventure and beautiful experience, I could not wish for anything more than to inspire others to decide to use the opportunity of this program! That's why I will try to convey, in addition to the good impressions, knowledge and moments of victory that this opportunity gave me, the technical details of the program itself.

The first thing I convey to my friends when I motivate them to participate in this program is how to choose the right opportunity for themselves among many possibilities! It is not easy to change your environment, both physically and socially, as well as your lifestyle! With that in mind, my decisions in the direction of choosing the opportunity were the following: as a biologist I knew I wanted something on the topic of ecological and sustainable, but also 2 technical factors were important to me, namely that the duration of the project fit into my life plan breaks between professional employment and studies, as well as the fact that it is not far from a larger city and that it has a warm climate. I found all of this in the Plant Your Future project by Pozitiva Samobor, which beat 12 other options in my notebook.

Before I give you my personal impressions and experiences from this project, I want to introduce you to the fact that this program covers all the life needs of being on the program, so the only thing you need to worry about is having a good time!

The tasks I enjoyed were conducting workshops because I really like education and performance, as well as marketing because I like to promote sustainable growth and development.

Also, what was particularly interesting and challenging for me was the crowdfunding organized by Pozitiva. This is something new to me, so it was a special pleasure for me to get involved and learn!

I must mention that I enjoyed Tanja's kitchen, which kept us company during two Erasmus projects! During those projects, we had teams all over Europe with whom we worked and learned through numerous activities about sustainable development and inclusiveness. I had the opportunity to transfer my knowledge of rhetoric, but also to bring the ESC program closer so that they would also take advantage of this opportunity in the future.

As this blog is small enough to fit all the good impressions, energy and experiences, I will end with the part that young people like the most, which is walking and recreation. I enjoyed walking through the streets of Samobor and Zagreb, getting to know the wonderful culture and history of Croatia as well as their desserts!

That's why my message to young people is to be brave, adventurous and daring. To use opportunities and work on themselves.

And I sincerely hope that my experience will encourage them to do so at least a little.
